Making Transitioning Work for Your Family 



Transitioning or returning to school can be a stressful time for children and parents. Many children exhibit extreme symptoms such as nightmares, inability to sleep, loss of appetite and various other symptoms. As a parent or caregiver you may feel helpless and frustrated trying to find solutions that help make transitioning easier for your children.
Child Care Aware, our nations leading voice for child care offers the following strategies on making transitioning easier.

• Give yourself five minutes of quiet before you wake up your child or start your day.
• Think about what you know about your child. What will help make the morning more pleasant? Playing soft and calming music. If your child enjoys tickling, use that as a strategy to wake him or her in the morning. It makes waking up fun.
• Plan to give the slow-to-wake up child three wake up calls.
• Get things ready the night before including choosing your child's outfit for the next day.

Family Matters is a series of parent discussion groups designed to assist and support parents through the everyday rewards and challenges of parenthood.
All parent discussion groups are from 6pm-8pm and are held at Child Care Resources office in Neptune, NJ unless otherwise noted.

We invite you and your family to join us to discover creative, low cost activities for the holidays! Using basic household items, you can create another world of fun! This parent directed workshop will be a “hands on” experience for you and your family.  Children will appreciate the process of “creating” along with you! The holidays are an expensive time which often create financial stress on the family, so come learn low cost, creative ways to engage children in creativity. Children ages 3 and up are recommended!

 

 

Quality Rating Improvement System (QRIS) 101 for Parents

As a parent or caregiver have you ever asked yourself the following questions: “What qualifications does the teacher in my child’s classroom have to teach children? Are health and safety precautions available at the child care center? What curriculum does the center provide for my child to grow and learn?” These are very important questions that affect children’s everyday experiences in child care. In this presentation, we will offer answers to these questions and provide parents and caregivers updated information on how QRIS is being implemented in New Jersey.

Guiding Behaviors

This class is designed to give parents various techniques for guiding positive behavior in their children. Understanding why children act the way they do is the key to promoting positive behavior; a challenge for many parents. Attending this workshop will allow you to learn how to respond to this challenge in a helpful and loving way.

Welcome to Child Care Resources of Monmouth County

WELCOME to Child Care Resources. We are pleased to be offering this blog to our families with the hopes that it will serve as a positive resource and help us remain connected to the families we serve.

Child Care Resources offers various services which include free referrals to  licensed child care centers and preschools, registered family child care homes, summer camps, and before/after– school programs.

We also counsel families on making informed choices for child care. In addition we administer financial assistance to assist with child care cost for eligible working families and students. We offer parent education classes and workshops on nutrition and health, support groups for parents with special needs children and child development.

We have a lending library, educational workshops and trainings are offered to all early childhood professionals. We also register and offer trainings to family child care providers.

The blog will include a variety of topics such as important updates including news from our county, state and national levels on events surrounding early childhood education, and information on improving  standards for quality child care.
